This course is for the person interesting in becoming more familiar and confident in being able to understand and communicate tech - enabled businesses that may wind up deploying into a distressed area of a smart city.

This course WILL NOT teach you to code, however it should help to spur ideas that coders architects, and designers can articulated into apps that can help your business, industry or community.

Steven C. Philpott Sr.

Steven is a lifelong fan of computer technology and its applied use in economic distressed communities. He has been a successful software designer, enterprise platform developer and launched a consumer biometrics startup. Most recently, Steve is the Entrepreneur in Residence at UI Labs in partnership with City Digital Collaborative under grant provided by the Blackstone Entreprenuship Challenge.  He also serves as Managing Director of Colony 5, a not-for-profit dedicated to helping entrepreneurs create and build tech enabled companies in distressed retail corridors. Steve is a frequent speaker on Civic Tech, Co-founder of Colony 5, Member of the Array of Things Executive Oversight Committee, Civic Tech Advisor for The Imagine Project, Executive Board Member of Collaboraction Theatre, and former Social Ventures Fellow, Center for Neighborhood Technology.
